shit happens

I'm try to stay positive.

Maybe I'll just write this now, and get it out of the way. It look likes my something went wrong inside my camera while I was in Poland, I guess it was about the first week I got there, though I had no idea, shutter was working fine nothing seemed weird. Anyway, got my film back and only the first 5 rolls were exposed everything else came out blank.

I've had my cry. and now I'm trying to come up with a new plan. not sure what I'll do yet, but mostly just embarrassed and bummed that it happened. I'm going to take this as a sign...I don't know, its better then being angry. not much else to say but that I will try to make a better project. or maybe go back. ugh.

(mostly just mad that this is the first time my camera has ever broken...bad timing)

things have taken a bad turn. time to rethink....if you need me I'll be panicking.

sheep crossing

long bike rides on windy days. not much traffic, just some sheep.

little terror

my little cousin Olivia. she'd be cute, if she wasn't such a terror.

more Lviv

some old homes in Lviv.

Lviv, Ukraine

went to a couple of art galleries in Lviv, that were underwhelming to say the least. The most entertaining part of the whole thing was the little old ladies guarding each room. They would turn on the lights as I walked in a room, and then immediately turn them off. They also seemed very suspicious of me, to the point of following me through the gallery for a good 10 minutes.

Chernobyl, Ukraine

went to Chernobyl a couple days ago. it was truly a surreal experience walking through those buildings. basically intense is the only way I can describe it.

Odessa, Ukraine

I arrived in Odessa a couple days ago. I took 20 hour train from Poland that was raided in the middle of the night, apparently some people were trying to smuggle goods in. I was mostly scared because I wasn't sure what was happening or if this was a normal thing. Police officer in full gear, search dogs, and bad attitudes. this was my introduction to Ukraine.

here are some images of the 'beach' in odessa. all concrete.

this morning I went into the woods with my cousin to pick mushrooms. She gave me a quick lesson on which ones were poison, and then later checked my basket.

sidenote: I haven't eaten a single vegatable since I left.(i'm not counting the potatoes)

my cousin Yola's room.

More pictures of the inside of my uncles home. kind of in love with all of the dead animal skins, heads, and taxidermy.

I have landed

I arrived in Poland yesterday after an exhausting 14 hours of travel. I'm staying in a small village called Dobrawica with my Uncle Janek, Aunt Krysia, cousin Yola and her 2 year old duaghter Olivia. They have a population of about 1200 people which is pretty insane.

Yesterday I was fed pierogi's at three seperate houses; two made them with cheese and potatoes, and the third was with cabbage(which is my favorite).

at lunch today I did three shots of vodka with my Uncle and his was pissing rain so I didn't really shoot, plus I needed to get a bunch of stuff in town.

I will post as much as I can, wherever I have internet access. In the mean time here is a shot of the bedroom I'll sleeping in for the next little bit. I told my uncle I will be stealing at least two of those sweet animal skulls on the wall.

more posts soon!

ps. on Sunday my uncle will show me how to shoot a shot gun!!! I promise documentation. (don't tell my mom)

Design Festa - Tokyo

inspired by jamie c.

So its been a busy week and I haven't really had time to sit down and load photos. We've been go, go, go, since we arrived on Saturday.
Here are some shot from Design Festa, it's a big emerging arts and design fair. My favorite part was the outfits ppl wore to draw you to their booths. Here's a couple.
